Vegan Everywhere — from San Diego to San Francisco
We continued our drive from San Diego to San Francisco. First stop, was quiet early on.
The weather was nice.. breeze, cool and open wide spaces. Always, makes one feel like one can breathe and float. California is also full of surprises, one can find quaint places enfolded in different sceneries. Open fields, farms, and then towns, with clusters of shops. It all feels very familiar, warm, quaint and open.
Well, it was time to break for a coffee and stretch. We are Starbucks fan, at this point more than that we wanted a coffee. So, we stopped at the first coffee place. It was a nice lovely quiet day, a few people in the cafe. The question was — will they have Soy or Almond milk.
They did.. I browsed the food available, they did not have much Vegan.
Don’t, don’t, judge yet, you know one can always buy roasted Almonds and fruits.
Switching for a bit, typically, if you are at Starbucks, the plain Bagel is dairy free — you can always request them to show you the card with ingredients. Starbucks staff have a set of cards that list the ingredients and label them as Vegan/Dairy etc..
So, we bought coffees and set out to continue our journey.
Next, stop was for lunch at Santa Barbara — at wholefoods. True to Californian spirit, it surprised us. What! The Wholefoods had a separate hot bar for Vegan.
Yes, it was awesome! Well! do have to share with you that last time the box I had was rather heavy and full! The range of food in one place can make one greedy! So this time, I made the choices carefully! :)
If you are wondering, weight, yes Wholefoods, you fill a box and pay by weight!
We stopped briefly at a nice quaint quiet resort ish place. It was windy and there a diner along with the resort. I wondered what would the place be like and was a nice one to come and stay for a few days. Then again it was time to leave.
Then it was time to drive through Big Sur. This was my first time through Big Sur! The long roads winding at some places and rising in others stretching through the cloud. It seemed like that this was it, I am soon going to be home home up there to be one and meet the one have! It seemed familiar and a sense of waiting for something arose. To then realize, I was still in this world!
Stay tuned, there is still more to this story and trip!
